Frequently Asked Questions

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and sport where the goal is to take your opponent to the ground and use specific techniques, like joint locks or chokeholds, to make them submit.

What equipment will I need?

To start, you just need an open mind and comfortable clothing like a T-shirt and shorts. As you advance, you might want to buy a 'GI', a standard uniform for Jiu Jitsu training. If you prefer No-GI training, a T-shirt and shorts are sufficient. Avoid wearing accessories like watches or jewelry since it's a full-contact sport.

What measures do you take for safety?

We cannot assure a completely injury-free experience due to the full-contact nature of the sport. However, we do our best to maintain safety. We advise keeping your fingernails and toenails trimmed and not wearing any jewelry during training to prevent injuries.

Do I need any experience?

You don't need any prior experience to start learning BJJ, and people of all fitness levels are welcome. We train as a team, where everyone helps each other improve.

Can I get in good shape doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Yes, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can enhance your reaction time, balance, core strength, and flexibility, potentially leading to weight loss and fat reduction. Its training often offers better aerobic and anaerobic benefits compared to regular gym workouts.

Do I have to compete?

No, competition is not mandatory. You'll still receive top-notch training and support to meet your personal Jiu-Jitsu goals. While many in BJJ schools don't compete, they often enjoy cheering on their team at local and regional events.

How much Is a Membership?

Welcome warriors! Start with a free one-week membership. Then, opt for a $125 monthly membership with auto credit card payment. Out-of-town warriors, sign a waiver and pay $20 per class.
