Sexual Harassment Policy
1. Our Commitment
At Steamboat Springs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(SSBJJ), we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We believe that everyone deserves to train without fear of harassment, intimidation, or inappropriate behavior. We have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment, misconduct, or abuse.
2. Definition of Prohibited Behavior
Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Unwelcome physical contact, including unnecessary or overly aggressive pressure in training that is sexual in nature.
- Sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or inappropriate physical gestures.
- Sexualized comments, jokes, or teasing, including in-person or on social media.
- Excessive watching, staring, or taking unauthorized photographs/videos.
- Abuse of power by coaches or higher belts, including grooming or manipulating students.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all coaches, staff, students, and visitors at our academy. It covers all interactions on the mats, in locker rooms, during gym social events, and online.
4. Reporting Procedures
If you feel safe doing so, you are encouraged to clearly tell the individual that their behavior is unwelcome. If the behavior continues or you do not feel comfortable confronting them, please report the incident immediately:

5. Non-Retaliation and Confidentiality
We protect victims who come forward. Retaliation against any individual for reporting harassment or participating in an investigation is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of membership. All reports will be handled with confidentiality to the extent possible, focusing on the safety of the individual.
6. Consequences
Steamboat Springs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(SSBJJ) operates on a one-strike policy for serious sexual misconduct. Violations of this policy will result in immediate and permanent removal from the academy.
7. Bystander Responsibility
We believe that silent bystanders enable harmful behavior. We encourage members to speak up if they witness misconduct.
